Rev. Peter Narh, the founder of Bible Counsel International Church in Nuaso, Odumase Krobo in the Eastern region, has been hospitalized after a violent attack by his colleague self-styled prophet. The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 3, 2023, during an evening service at the church.

According to reports, the two pastors had decided to spend the night in the church after the service. However, in the middle of the night, the suspect, Prophet Narh, allegedly attacked Rev. Narh with some objects he picked up around the temple, hitting him on the head and face multiple times.

The victim screamed for help, alerting neighbors who rushed to his aid. However, the suspect managed to escape before they could apprehend him.

Rev. Narh was rushed to St. Martins De Porres Hospital in Agormanya with serious injuries, including blood oozing from his mouth and ears.

The wife of the victim, Mrs. Elizabeth Mamley Narh, revealed that the suspect’s family claimed he may be suffering from mental instability and had escaped from the house for some days. The case has been reported to the police for further investigations.

This incident highlights the importance of mental health awareness in Ghana, particularly in the religious community, where many people seek spiritual guidance and support during difficult times. Mental illness is a serious condition that requires medical attention, and those who suffer from it should be encouraged to seek help without fear of stigmatization or discrimination.

For the most part, the religious community should prioritize the mental health of their leaders and members, ensuring that they have access to professional help and support when needed. It is essential to promote a culture of openness and acceptance, where mental illness is treated with the same level of concern and care as physical illness.

We wish Rev. Narh a speedy recovery and hope that this incident will serve as a wake-up call to the religious community to prioritize the mental health and well-being of their leaders and members.
